Protecting your private information is our priority. This Statement of Privacy applies to www.bisonrides.com, and BisonRides LLC. (“BisonRides”) and governs data collection and usage. For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, unless otherwise noted, all references to BisonRides LLC include www.bisonrides.com and BisonRides. The BisonRides Platform is an application, that providing a matchmaking Service to benefit Bucknell students both with and without cars for ride sharing. By using the BisonRides Platform, you consent to the data practices described in this statement. Please read the following to learn more about our privacy policy. If you do not agree to this Policy, please do not use the Platform or the Services .

For purposes of this Privacy Policy, the terms “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to BisonRides. “you” & ”your” refers to you, as a visitor or user of the Platform or the Services. 

Collection of your Personal Information 

In order to better provide you with Services offered, BisonRides may collect personally identifiable information, such as your: 

• First and Last Name 
• Mailing Address 
• Email Address 
• Age
• State of residence

If you purchase BisonRides’s Services, we collect billing and credit card information. This information is used to complete the purchase transaction. 

BisonRides may also collect anonymous demographic information, which is not unique to you, such as your: 

• Age 
• Gender 

Please keep in mind that if you directly disclose personally identifiable information or personally sensitive data through BisonRides’s public message boards, this information may be collected and used by others. 

We do not collect any personal information about you unless you voluntarily provide it to us. However, you may be required to provide certain personal information to us when you elect to use our Services or the Platform. These may include: (a) registering for an account; (b) posting of a ride (c) sending us an email message; (d) submitting your credit card or other payment information when ordering and purchasing and the Services. To wit, we will use your information for, but not limited to, communicating with you in relation to Services you have requested from us. We also may gather additional personal or non-personal information in the future. 

You represent and warrant to us that you have the right and authority to provide us all information you provide about yourself or others.

Use of your Personal Information 

BisonRides collects and uses your personal information to operate and deliver the Services you have requested. 

BisonRides may also use your personally identifiable information to inform you of other Services available from BisonRides. 

BisonRides may use your personal information to contact you through any contact information you provide through our online services, including any email address, telephone number, cell phone number, or fax number. We may communicate, electronically or via telephone with you about the Services that are or may be available to you in connection with your transactions with us.

Sharing Information with Third Parties 

BisonRides does not sell, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties. 

BisonRides may share data with trusted partners to help perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail or provide customer support. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to BisonRides, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information. 

BisonRides may share information if all or part of BisonRides is sold, merged, dissolved, acquired, or disbanded to any extent in a similar transaction, or in connection with steps that may need to be taken in anticipation of such events.

BisonRides may disclose your personal information, without notice, if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on BisonRides or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of BisonRides; and/or (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of BisonRides, or the public. 

 BisonRides may share information in response to a court order, subpoena, search warrant, or to comply with law or regulation. We may cooperate with law enforcement authorities in investigating and prosecuting activities that are illegal, violate our rules, or may be harmful to other visitors.

Tracking User Behavior 

BisonRides may keep track of the websites and pages our users visit within BisonRides, in order to determine what BisonRides Services are the most popular. This data is used to deliver customized content and advertising within BisonRides to customers whose behavior indicates that they are interested in a particular subject area. 

Automatically Collected Information 

Information about your computer hardware and software may be automatically collected by BisonRides. This information can include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring website addresses. This information is used for the operation of the Service, to maintain quality of the Service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the BisonRides Platform. 

We may collect information about you from third-party sources, such as: service providers, business partners, public and third-party databases, platform providers, non-affiliated partners, other users of our services, public sources, third-party advertising partners, or from other third parties. Information we collect from third parties may be combined with other information we have collected about you.

Use of Cookies 

The BisonRides may use “cookies” to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.   

One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalize BisonRides pages, or register with BisonRides Platform or Services, a cookie helps BisonRides to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, email ID, and so on. When you return to the BisonRides Platform, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the BisonRides features that you customized. 

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the BisonRides Services or Platform  you visit. 

Please note that we do not currently respond to web browser “Do Not Track” signals that provide a method to opt out of the collection of information about online activities over time and across third-party websites or online services because, among other reasons, there is no common definition of such signals and no industry-accepted standards for how such signals should be interpreted.

User Generated Content

We invite you to post content on our services, including your comments and reviews that you would like to be available on our Services. If you post your own content on our Services, your posting may become public and BisonRides cannot prevent such information from being used in a manner that may violate this policy, the law, or your personal privacy.

Communication Preference Management

If you need additional assistance in opting out of a communication, please contact us for assistance. Please be aware that opt-outs may not apply to certain types of communications, such as account status, online service updates, or other communications. 

Protecting Your Information

We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information that you provide on our online Services. These safeguards vary based on the sensitivity of the information that is being collected, used, and stored. We cannot guarantee the security of our online services, nor can we guarantee the security of the information you transmit to us over the Internet, including your use of email. We are not liable for the illegal acts of third parties such as criminal hackers.

It is your responsibility to safeguard the devices you use to access our online services (such as laptops, tablets and mobile devices), and to use appropriate security settings on those devices. If those devices are lost, stolen or misplaced, others may be able to access your account and your personal information using those devices. You should affirmatively log out of your account (i) prior to ending your session, or (ii) if you will be inactive on the online Services for more than a few minutes; otherwise, the next user of that computer or device, particularly a public one or one not owned by you, may be able to access your account and the information in your account if your session has not ended.

You agree that we are not responsible for any harm that may result from someone accessing your account or personal information on any computer or device where you do not, for any reason, take the necessary steps to log out of your account prior to ending a session on such device or computer.

We retain information for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it is collected, subject to a longer period if the information is relevant to a legal challenge.

Right to Deletion 

Subject to certain exceptions set out below, on receipt of a verifiable request from you, we will: 

  • Delete your personal information from our records; and
  • Direct any service providers to delete your personal information from their records.

Please note that we may not be able to comply with requests to delete your personal information if it is necessary to: 

  • Complete the transaction for which the personal information was collected, provide Service requested by you, or reasonably anticipated within the context of our ongoing business relationship with you, or otherwise perform a contract between you and us;
  • Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity; or prosecute those responsible for that activity;
  • Debug to identify and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality;
  • Exercise free speech, ensure the right of another consumer to exercise his or her right of free speech, or exercise another right provided for by law;
  • Comply with the California Electronic Communications Privacy Act; 
  • Engage in public or peer-reviewed scientific, historical, or statistical research in the public interest that adheres to all other applicable ethics and privacy laws, when our deletion of the information is likely to render impossible or seriously impair the achievement of such research, provided we have obtained your informed consent; 
  • Enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with your expectations based on your relationship with us; 
  • Comply with an existing legal obligation; or 
  • Otherwise use your personal information, internally, in a lawful manner that is compatible with the context in which you provided the information.

Children Under Thirteen 

BisonRides does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of thirteen. If you are under the age of thirteen, you must ask your parent or guardian for permission to use this website. 

 In the event that we become aware that we have collected personal information from any child, we will dispose of that information in accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and other applicable laws and regulations. If you are a parent or guardian who thinks that we have collected such personal information from a child under the age of 13 through our online Services, please contact us immediately and we will take reasonable steps to ensure that such information is deleted from our files.

E-mail Communications 

From time to time, BisonRides may contact you via email for the purpose of providing announcements, promotional offers, alerts, confirmations, surveys, and/or other general communication. In order to improve our Services, we may receive a notification when you open an email from BisonRides or click on a link therein.   

If you would like to stop receiving marketing or promotional communications via email from BisonRides, you may opt out of such communications. Customers may unsubscribe from emails by “replying STOP” or “clicking on the UNSUBSCRIBE button.

External Data Storage Sites 

We may store your data on servers provided by third party hosting vendors with whom we have contracted. 

Changes to this Statement 

BisonRides reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat personal information by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your account, by placing a prominent notice on our website, and/or by updating any privacy information. Your continued use of the Platform and/or Services available after such modifications will constitute your: (a) acknowledgment of the modified Privacy Policy; and (b) agreement to abide and be bound by that Policy. Any revised Privacy Policy will apply both to information we already have about you at the time of the change, and any personal information created or received after the change takes effect. We encourage you to periodically reread this Privacy Statement, to see if there have been any changes to our policies that may affect you.

Complaints

If you believe we have violated your privacy rights, you have the right to complain to us. You may file a complaint with us at our Contact Office (below). We will not retaliate against you if you choose to file a complaint with us.

Your California Privacy Rights

California Civil Code Section 1798.83, entitles California customers to request information relating to whether a business has disclosed personal information to any third parties for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes. As explained elsewhere in this Privacy Notice, BisonRides will not sell or transfer your personal information to third party companies for their direct marketing purposes without your consent.
